2 GSA Search Engine Ranker Tutorial - Add Your Website URLs

2 GSA Search Engine Ranker Tutorial - Add Your Website URLsIn the URL section, you will need to add your URLs for which you would like to create backlinks. You can use your money site, PBN and web 2.0 URLs. There is much debate in the SEO community whether it is safe to send backlinks to your money site. I usually do not shy away from creating links directly to money sites simply because it helps with referring domain diversity. Of course, you can use filters to filter out any unwanted websites. We will come on to those a bit later. I usually import my URL list directly from the clipboard. I like to enable URL variations with 20% and use the root/main URL with 30% (both are default values) that help to ensure that the backlinks look more natural.

Inside the keywords section, you should add all the keywords that you would like to use to scrape the search engines for target sites from which to get backlinks. I usually tick the following options:

  • Collect keywords from target sites
  • Use collected keywords to find new target sites
  • Put keywords in quotes when used in search queries
  • Try searching for similar looking keywords

These options help to expand my keyword list and increase the number of results. To get a list of keywords, you can use your own pre-made keyword lists, you can use online keyword finders, Scrapebox or Money Robot keyword tool. I like to use the Money Robot keyword tool as well as ahrefs. I usually pick a couple of big sites from my niche, go to ahrefs and export all of their organic keywords that the sites are ranking for. This helps me to effortlessly create my own niche-related keyword list. Money Robot keyword tool is also very helpful but it takes slightly longer to generate the keywords as I can only search for one keyword at a time.

4 GSA Search Engine Ranker Tutorial - Add Your Anchor Text

4 GSA Search Engine Ranker Tutorial - Add Your Anchor TextInside the "anchor text" section, you will need to add your list of anchors that you would like to use for your backlinks. I usually have my list of pre-defined anchor texts for each one of my money sites.

5 GSA Search Engine Ranker Tutorial - Anchor Text Options

5 GSA Search Engine Ranker Tutorial - Anchor Text OptionsThis section is very important because it will allow you to configure your anchor text ratio for safe rankings.

I do not use the keywords as anchor text as my keywords are not necessarily extremely relevant to my niches. They are broad enough to stay within my niche but are not precise enough for my URLs. I therefore leave this checkbox unchecked.

You can also use partial match anchor text, secondary anchor text, LSI anchor text and citations. To get more information about each one, simply hover on the writing with your cursor.

I do however, use branding anchor text which are simply the variations of my brand name. I also use generic anchor text which are natural words such as here, click, more, learn more and so on.

I always use domain as anchor text simply because naked anchor text looks more natural and you cannot go wrong with it when it comes to anchor text relevance.
It is a good option to use citation. Whilst it does not give you a direct backlink, it mentions your brand or url which is still good for SEO rankings as Google and other search engines analyse how often your brand is mentioned on the internet albeit be it without a backlink. In today's SEO, it is very important to focus on building a brand and this is where the citation option comes in handy.

I always use anchor text variations simply because they make the links look a bit more natural.

You will need to spin your anchors and add them inside a spintax format. There are many online tools that will allow you to add your list of keywords inside a spintax format automatically. Once inside a spintax format, your anchor will look like this {anchor 1|anchor 2|anchor 3}.

The next step will be to add your content for images, guestbooks and directories. You should manually spin some content and add it to each respective field. For those of you who are not familiar with content spinning, it is basically a process of creating different variations for one piece of content. Usually, it works by adding alternative nouns, verbs and adjectives, changing sentence structure and so on with the view to making each piece of content unique whenever it is spun. Just to give you a very basic example, if your text was "Awesome SEO software", you could spin it to {awesome|Superb|Best|Amazing} {SEO|seo|search engine optimisation} {software|app|tool|bot}. When this content is spun, you will get different and unique content that is saying the same thing but using different words. This is a very basic example of content spinning. You ought to really put in some time in spinning your content to make it related to your niche and as unique as possible. You could use content spinners such as the spinrewriter (my personal favourite). One thing you could do is to collect a list of products (if you run an ecommerce business) and then spin them by using an online spintax generator. Usually, it is best to use content that asks for recommendations or addresses a problem. It is never a good idea to cheekily advertise your products as it is a red spam flag. Instead, ask people if they have used a service, bought a product, what they think about a brand/website/product. It is important to ensure that your content is contextually relevant. I usually avoid too much flattery such as "Can I use your RSS feed" or "I have bookmarked your page": this is just too pathetic and screams SPAM like there is no tomorrow.

In some parts such as the directories, you will need to select the most relevant categories for your website or business. You will also need to upload a video, profile images, a PDF document and other information depending on what platform you are using. I feel that this part is very intuitive and there is simply no point of covering it in too much depth. However, I do want to emphasise that you ought to spend enough time in spinning your content as it helps your backlinks to stick and it is search-engine friendly. There is nothing worse than having your backlink inside content that is duplicated across thousands of websites as it tells the search engines that you are basically spamming as it is very unnatural to be posting the same thing over and over again.

The next step will be to navigate to the "Article Manager" and add your articles. There are many options for adding articles. You can use a number of tools, including the GSA Content Generator or you could enter your articles manually. I am currently entering my spun articles manually simply because I have a lot of content writers who are producing a lot of niche-relevant articles that I am first to spin and use for my backlinks. If you are going to enter your articles manually, I recommend that you spin your articles with a content spinner. My favourite content spinner is the spinrewriter as I have never really bothered to explore any other options since the spinrewriter does an excellent job.

When adding your articles into GSA SER article manager manually, you can get the software to generate your article title on the basis of your keywords. This is the option that I like to use personally. The software will ask you whether your keywords are nouns or verbs and give you some category selections for generating the article titles. This step is very intuitive. Inside the "Body" section, simply paste your spun article in syntax format. The software will then generate a unique version of your article each time it posts it.

9 GSA Search Engine Ranker Tutorial - Configuring Article Options

9 GSA Search Engine Ranker Tutorial - Configuring Article Options

I like to add a "link at a random location" to keep my backlink profile natural.
You can "Insert up to X additional links from project". This option will basically add additional URLs to random words in the article. I normally do not use this option as I like to control the anchor text.

You can "insert up to X verified links from project". This option will take backlinks created inside your project and add those links to another article. Basically you are creating links on top of links created during this project. I like this option because it enables you to give your links some extra power and to keep the article looking more natural with a diverse range of links.

You can "insert up to X number of random/authority URLs for random words". This option will add urls to random words in the article to make everything look more natural to the search engines.

You can "insert up to X random images related to the article" or use your own images. I prefer to use my own images because I like to rank them also. Simply upload or paste your list of image urls in the input field.

You can "insert up to X number of random videos related to the article" or use your own videos. Again, I like to use my own YouTube videos simply because I like to rank them and embedding them in your posts/articles is the best way of ranking YouTube videos.

You can "shorten article to XXX words". I do not use this option.
"Do not submit same article more than X times per account". I use this option because I like to have a unique article each time. As mentioned rpeviously, duplicate articles are not taken towards very favourably by the search engines and this could lead to content quality issues and indexing problems which could adversely impact your backlink building exercise.
